Turquoise Meanings

One of the oldest known stones, Turquoise (“Turkish stone”) has
long been prized for its symbolic link to the sky and its mysteries.
Its colour varies depending on the mineral content: copper gives
blue hues and iron imbues it with green tones. Turquoise is one
of the oldest protection amulets. It was thought that Turquoise
given by a loving friend would protect the wearer and bring good
fortune. Still considered a symbol of friendship and a traveler’s
stone, it is also used to bring peace to the home. Ancient Eqyptians
wore Turquoise as a symbol of wealth. Honoured as sacred by
many Aboriginal cultures, Turquoise is believed to be a truth stone,
symbolizing a time to be honest with yourself.
