Description

Cut and Polished on one face Septarian Geode Pair from Utah, USA with a metal stand

Septarians are nodules or geodes formed 50 to 70 million years ago when
the Gulf of Mexico reached what is now Utah. Decomposing sea life killed
by volcanic eruptions formed into bentonite clay balls with the sediment
around them. As the ocean receded, these balls were left to dry, shrink
and crack. Calcite from decomposed shells was carried down into the
cracks forming calcite crystals. This thin wall of Calcite transformed into
Aragonite separating the heavy clay exteriors from the Calcite centers.
This dividing wall or saeptum (Latin), gives Septarian its name. Septarian,
also known as Dragonstone, is a healing stone beneficial to overall health
and well being. Septarian is known to encourage open communication
within groups, allowing each person to speak clearly and kindly. Septarian
calms emotional restlessness and increases flexibility and tolerance.
