Description

Gemstone meaning:

Malachite, from the Greek, “malache,” or “mallow” (in reference to its green leaf
color), has been called the “mirror of the soul” as it reflects the inner feelings of the
holder. Ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans wore malachite in amulets to protect
against the evil eye and ground it up to wear as eye shadow. In the Middle Ages it
was used to protect children from witches and other dangers. It it said that a piece
of Malachite in your bedroom will help get rid of nightmares. As a modern protector,
Malachite is thought to keep one safe from accidents and during travel as it is
believed to stimulate awareness and prevent vertigo – great for pilots! It guards
against radiation, clears electromagnetic pollution and is used to absorb negative
energies and pollutants from the atmosphere and the body. Metaphysically, Malachite
encourages risk-taking and breaks unwanted ties and outworn patterns. It teaches
how to release guilt and take responsibility for one’s actions, thoughts and feelings.
Most malachite comes from Zaire, Chile, Australia and Arizona.
