Description
Gemstone Meanings:
Jasper was a favorite gem in the ancient world. Its name, meaning
“spotted or speckled” can be traced back in Arabic, Persian,
Hebrew, Assyrian, Greek and Latin languages. Found world-wide,
this multi-coloured rock is tinted by minerals in early sediments
and ash. Organic material and oxides give it landscape-like patterns,
bands or concentric circles. Legend says Jasper can drive away evil
spirits and protect against snake/spider bites. In the 4th century, it
was thought to bring rain. Jasper is known to connect one to the
earth, bring stability, bestow courage to speak out, and offer
independence.
