Description
Larimar is a rare, blue form of pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic. Overlooked after its first discovery in 1916 by a Spanish priest, it was rediscovered in 1974 by a Peace Corps volunteer and a local Dominican, Miguel Mendez who named Larimar after his daughter (Larissa) and the sea (Mer). Also known as Dolphin Stone or Atlantis Stone, tranquil Larimar is used to encourage open expression from the heart. An Igneous rock, Larimar balances water and fire energy so it is believed to soothe tempers, abate fears and calm stress. Thought to be a buoy for troubled relationships, this cleansing stone washes away emotional blocks. Its soft, nurturing energy connects to the Divine Feminine and it is favoured by pregnant women and new mothers.
