Description

Aragonite clusters from Morocco

Aragonite is named for the Aragon Provinces in Spain where it was
first discovered. It is one of two naturally occurring crystal forms of
calcium carbonate – the other being Calcite. Aragonite crystalizes in
columns, fibres and occasionally branching stalactitic forms called
flos-ferri (“flowers of iron”). It also acts as the primary mineral in the
creation of mother of pearl which preserves many shell, snail and
coral fossils. Aragonite is seen as a grounding stone, helpful during
times of stress. It is also used to reduce procrastination. Valuable
as a stone of interpersonal relationships, it strengthens friendship,
communication, patience and responsibility. For these reasons, it was
used by Spanish Monks as a rosary bead and is still favourable today.
