Description

Ammonite from Madagascar

Ammonite is a 70 million year old spiral-shelled mollusk. The
extinction of the ammonites coincided with that of the dinosaurs.
Ammonites inhabited the world’s oceans and now appear as
fossils in marine rocks. It is said that the original discus used in
the first Ancient Greek Olympics was a fossilized ammonite. The
word Ammonite is derived from “Ammon,” an Eqyptian Ram God.
In India, Ammonites are associated with the God Vishnu.
Ammonite is believed by Feng Shui masters to be a powerful
wealth stone bringing prosperity and grandeur. In some folk
traditions, Ammonites are said to help ease childbirth as their
spiral forms remind us to keep breathing.
