Description
Bloodstone, also called heliotrope, is a green form of chalcedony with distinctive red jasper spots that resemble blood. Ancient legend states that bloodstone was formed when Christ’s blood touched the green Earth. For this reason, bloodstone has traditionally been used to stop bleeding, heal ailments of the blood and improve circulation. Following from its Greek name heliotrope, meaning sun and change, bloodstone is thought to encourage change, move energy and remove energy blocks, both in the body and in a space. Bloodstone is considered a stone of courage and vitality and was once carried by soldiers to avoid being wounded. It is still used today as a talisman of health.
