Description
Black obsidian is a natural volcanic glass from Mexico. Obsidian is named after Obsius, a Roman man who discovered it in ancient Ethiopia. Obsidian was used by ancient cultures as a chief barter material. It was prized for its ability to be worked into sharp edges for arrows and spears. It has also been used since prehistoric times for making tools, masks, weapons, mirrors and jewelry. Black obsidian is a powerful protection stone which blocks negative energies and guards against over-sensitivity by strengthening one’s own energy field. Obsidian also symbolizes self-control and resilience.
